An Insta pot or (multi/pressure cooker)

*Plant based curries cook in around 5 minutes DONE!

An air fryer

Most recipes use no oil at all) eg baked tofu, sweet potato fries, fish-less fish DONE!

Chemical free non stick pots and pans

If you can get your hands on some of these you’ll taste the difference and you’ll need very little oil to create your masterpieces in DONE!

It’s not complicated

Plant based cooking is exciting, it’s creative and it’s challenging, It definately makes us re think what we’re putting into your bodies the food you are preparing and eating.

LETS GO

Grab yourself some cool large jars and start collecting your staples and labelling them, you’ll look like a chef in no time.

Staples (build them up when you can)

*Green/Brown/French/Red/yellow dried lentils

*Chickpeas/lentils/black beans dried and canned

Quinoa, Pasta,

*Coconut milk and your favourite nut or oat milk

Various Organic flours and egg substitutes.

Spices and herbs (good quality) chilly, curry, spice blends, turmeric cumin garlic ginger

Herbs eg thyme, oregano, lemongrass, basically whatever you’re into herb wise.

Nutritional yeast (A must) (cheese- less cheese everything)

Nuts walnuts, cashews, pine nuts, pistachios, macadamias, peanuts.

Seeds sunflower, pumpkin, mustard fenugreek etc

Dried fruit

Rolled Oats

TOFU ..(the king of flavour absorbers)

CONDIMENTS rice wine vinegar, soy, tamari, apple cider vinegar (with the mother) various vinegars

Special stuff..liquid smoke, vegan fish sauce vegan worstishire  sauce, Thai red green and yellow curry paste (watch out for ingredients check for no shrimp paste brands)

SAUCES AND SPREADS

Peanut butter, Tahini, Almond butter soy/Tamari

Binders and flours (you’ll learn more about this as you go along). Eggless eggs, yeast free flour anything from arrowroot almond flour, coconut, banana flour etc.

VEGGIES & FRUIT Especially pumpkin, sweet potato, cauliflower, zucchini’s potatoes, onions, spring onions avocados, bananas.

Lots of lemons and limes, garlic and ginger.

DEFINITELY

Go check out some plant based cafes and restaurants in your area, again discover new foods and recipes that you enjoy and then try to recreate them at home (Thanks Mr Google).

HINT HINT

Hop on YouTube, Facebook and various websites, blogs etc, work out which cooks have really nailed it to suit your taste. Download and save your favourite recipes you’ll find there are some awesome apps for doing just that. Once you’ve discovered your favourite cooks, why not support them by purchasing a few great plant based recipe books. I love having them in my kitchen they look great. Oh and it’s really important to listen to videos and podcasts etc featuring plant based experts such as Dr Gregor at nutrition.org getting your supplements sorted is extremely important!
